Transitions is a pre-employment and life management skills program developed to assist individuals who have been sexually exploited through current or past involvement in the sex trade and would like to move into mainstream employment or education.  The program is open to women, men, and transgender individuals aged 18 and over from any culture.  Clients can expect to experience a reduction in social isolation, enhanced personal safety, improved health and wellness, strengthened self-esteem and increased self-confidence.

Participants receive:

  • Case Management
  • Individual and Group Support
  • Health and Wellness (In Motion Network)
  • Cultural Support & Activities
  • Counselling Supports and Services
  • Relapse Prevention Workshop
  • Exposure Courses (i.e. First Aid & CPR)
  • NA Meetings On Site (Monday to Friday @ Noon)

The Transitions Program is divided into 4 components:

  1. Pre-Program:
    • Preparation and Stabilization for Core Program
    • Outreach Support and Services
      • i.e. Housing, Legal, Income Support, Addictions Recovery, etc.
    • Community Referrals
  2. Core-Program
    20 Week Closed Group (Monday to Friday 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.)

    • Life Management Training
      • i.e. Personal Power Development, Understanding Abuse, Person Centered Planning, Impacts of Prostitution, Healthy Relationships, Family Dynamics, Parenting, Skills and Career Development, and much more!
    • Financial Literacy
      • EmpowerU, ATB Match Savings
    • Basic Shelf
      • $250.00 Shopping Upon Completion
    • Work Experience, Employment, and/or further Education
  3. Post-Program:
    • One-to-One Support
    • Relapse Prevention
    • Job Placement Supports
    • Community Connections (Education, Self-Employment)
  4. Support Group:
    “Survival Squad” – Wednesday Evenings 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

    • Peer Support
    • Guided Topics
    • Resources
    • Childcare
